Veterans plan ceremony to mark surrender of Japanese
URBANA – Veterans will mark the anniversary of the end of World War II in a solemn ceremony this evening.
Urbana's Edgar Barstow, 90, a World War II Marine veteran and communications chief, will speak. During his five years in the Marine Corps, Barstow participated in four campaigns with the 4th Marine Division on the islands of Roi-Namur, Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima.
