Westville board may take more active role in hiring officers
WESTVILLE – Village officials said Tuesday they want more part-time police officers, and some want to be more involved in the hiring process as well.
Westville Village Board members learned that two current part-time officers have not passed their required firearms training for 2006, and are not returning phone calls. Board members said they want to advertise for additional officers, but then rejected a measure that might have lead to the hiring of an officer.
