Mahomet officials amend zoning ordinance
MAHOMET – A Mahomet remote-control raceway may have a chance to remain open after the village board amended its zoning ordinance to allow outdoor recreational facilities.
The amendment passed unanimously at the board's meeting Tuesday and allows for recreation facilities in both general industrial and commercial zoning. The amendment was sparked when village zoning administrator Les Gioja discovered no permissive use for such facilities when neighbors of Glitchers' RC Raceway on South Lake of the Woods Road complained about noise, odor and dust earlier this summer.
