Panel OKs Section 8 proposal
CHAMPAIGN – A proposal clarifying what type of conduct by a landlord would not constitute discrimination against the holder of a federal Section 8 rent subsidy has narrowly gained the endorsement of the Champaign Human Relations Commission.
By a 3-2 vote, with two abstentions, the commission endorsed amending the city's human rights ordinance to add language detailing what it considers to be acceptable, and in one instance, unacceptable conduct by a landlord when dealing with a Section 8 recipient.
