Champaign City Council to vote on housing study
CHAMPAIGN – A proposal to hire a consultant for $20,000 to analyze the downtown Champaign housing market appears headed for a close vote at Tuesday's city council meeting.
The proposal to hire Business Districts Inc. of Evanston to conduct the study was narrowly endorsed last week in study session in a 5-4 vote. The company has done previous work for the city, including working with another company to prepare the master plan for the Burnham site, where an 18-story apartment building is now under construction.
