Parties settle over 2002 ammonia spill
More than five years after an ammonia spill killed about 100,000 fish in the Salt Fork, a settlement has been reached.
The University of Illinois, its cleaning contractor, CEDA Inc., and the Urbana & Champaign Sanitary District agreed to pay a total of $491,000 for restoration projects that will benefit the fish and wildlife of the Saline Branch Drainage Ditch and the Salt Fork of the Vermilion River.
