Urbana National Guard soldiers await call to duty

URBANA – Urbana National Guard soldiers who have already served more than a year in Iraq are being told they might be called up again next year and sent to Afghanistan.

The Illinois Army National Guard said its largest deployment since World War II will involve 2,700 soldiers, more than half of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, headquartered in Urbana and made up of units all over the state.
