Grant used to advance firefighters' safety
CHAMPAIGN – Mike Jannusch was sweating heavily as he sat down and researchers checked his pulse.
Jannusch, 24, an Urbana firefighter and former St. Joseph volunteer, had a heart rate of 186, which is not surprising since he'd just been through a series of drills, including climbing stairs, carrying fire hoses, searching a room where there was a simulated fire and other tasks.
