Johnson resists pressure to change health program position
CHAMPAIGN – U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson says he has a high regard for two organizations criticizing him for his refusal to support yet another attempt to renew the State Children's Health Insurance Program with a large expansion.
But for Citizen Action/Illinois and Champaign County Health Care Consumers to accuse him of being opposed to children's health care is unfair, he said Friday, a day after voting against a revised SCHIP renewal bill.
