High-flying UI alumnus honored
URBANA – Air Force Col. Lee Archambault might not be the richest University of Illinois alumnus. But it's safe to say that few, if any, UI alumni have had a more exciting, adrenaline-filled career.
Archambault, 47, is a decorated fighter pilot, a test pilot and one of our country's 100 astronauts. He helped pilot the 118th shuttle mission from June 8-22 when it visited the international space station, a mission that had a few tense moments involving a thermal blanket.
