Repeat DUI offender gets 16-year prison sentence
URBANA – An Urbana woman with a history of drunken driving was sentenced Wednesday to 16 years in prison for her sixth and seventh convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Carla Elder, 41, formerly known as Carla Dorse, whose last known address was in the 2800 block of East Illinois Street, pleaded guilty before Champaign County Judge Chase Leonhard to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and was sentenced to eight years in prison on each of the convictions. Because she committed one offense while out on bond for the other, the sentences have to be served one after the other.
