Furnace fire damages apartment

CHAMPAIGN – A furnace fire caused an estimated $40,000 to a Champaign apartment Tuesday.

The fire at 608-A English Creek Court in west Champaign was reported at 11:19 a.m. Tuesday, according to Champaign Deputy Chief Tim Wild. When firefighters arrived, they found a lot of smoke in the building, he said.
