Tuscola won't give funds for water rate hike fight
TUSCOLA – When the cities of Champaign and Urbana go before the Illinois Commerce Commission in the coming months to challenge a proposed 60 percent water rate hike by Illinois American Water, they won't be receiving any financial help from the city of Tuscola.
Following a 20-minute discussion, the Tuscola City Council voted 5-2 Tuesday night to reject a request by the cities of Champaign and Urbana to participate financially in efforts to fight the rate hike.
