Warriors move forward as title game approaches
TUSCOLA – Instead of coordinating ticket sales and preparing for Friday's Class 1A state championship football game, Tuscola officials on Monday found themselves scrambling to deal with the fallout stemming from an incident over the weekend in which a number of teens – several of which were Tuscola football players – allegedly were found to be in possession of and drinking alcohol in rural Douglas County.
On Monday morning, Tuscola coach Stan Wienke confirmed that several football players were involved in the incident and would not be with the team for Friday's state championship game against undefeated Galena at Memorial Stadium. But he and other Tuscola officials, citing privacy regulations, refused to identify any students involved in the incident.
