Man pleads innocent in shooting
URBANA – A Champaign man admitted to police that he shot his ex-girlfriend after threatening to kill himself, a prosecutor said Tuesday in Urbana.
Markele D. Powell, 23, whose last known address was in the 1100 block of North Sixth Street, Champaign, was arraigned and, through his appointed public defender, pleaded innocent to Class X felony charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and attempted murder, accusing him of shooting Indea Dorsey.
