Seven face federal charges after drug bust
URBANA – A five-year investigation by a federal drug task force revealed a highly organized and high-tech drug operation in Champaign County.
As a result, police arrested seven people on federal drug charges, searched nearly two dozen homes and vehicles thought to be tied to the drug ring and seized five vehicles, nearly a pound of marijuana, almost four pounds of powder cocaine, and about two pounds of crack cocaine. Police also seized eight semiautomatic handguns and $105,000 in cash.
