Official accused of theft, forgery
WATSEKA – An initial investigation into the conduct of Iroquois County Clerk Mark Henrichs resulted from allegations that he arranged for the county to buy a trailer for use as a mobile voting unit without disclosing that he owned it, Sheriff Eldon Sprau said Thursday.
A copy of the indictment filed last week against Henrichs for multiple alleged felony crimes shows the longtime county clerk is accused of deceiving the county into thinking it was buying a trailer from an auto sales business in Chicago. Henrichs allegedly forged documents to make it appear the business sold the trailer to the county when he knew it had not, according to the indictment.
