Candy cane makers still celebrate the family tradition
The Vrinios family, more commonly known as the Vriner family, might not have its confectionary at 55 Main St. in downtown Champaign any longer, but what it does have is tradition.
Pete Vrinios, his sisters Joannie and Georgia, and their sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, are keeping that tradition alive at the Villa Caffe in Mahomet this holiday season. Until Tuesday, they can be found hand-making candy canes from scratch from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.
