A merry but dangerous time of year

A kitchen fire that resulted in the death of a Penfield woman and separate fires that destroyed an Urbana bedroom and damaged a Champaign fraternity are recent reminders of some of the winter fire hazards.

Winter is the worst time of year for home fires and deaths, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
