Unemployment rates higher than a year ago
CHAMPAIGN – November unemployment rates in Champaign and Vermilion counties were up substantially from a year ago, the Illinois Department of Employment Security reported.
Champaign County's unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, up from 4.1 percent in October and 2.9 percent in November 2006. Over the past year, the county gained jobs in information, education-health services and government, but lost jobs in manufacturing, the department said.
