Champaign picks interim fire chief
CHAMPAIGN – A 21-veteran of the Champaign Fire Department has been named interim fire chief, starting Jan. 28.
Steve Clarkson, 47, who currently serves as deputy fire chief of operations, was named interim chief Thursday by City Manager Steve Carter. He's likely to remain in that role for about six months while a national search for a new fire chief is conducted.
