Autopsy today in apparent drowning

SHELBYVILLE – An autopsy was scheduled for today on a man who apparently drowned in Lake Shelbyville on Saturday evening.

Shelby County Coroner Brian Green said the man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was swimming with a group of friends in a cove on the lake about 6:20 p.m.

They were headed toward a boat, he said.

"They realized immediately he was not visible in the water," Green said.

The man, believed to be from Charleston, was taken to Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m. Saturday.
