Difanis restricts lawyers' access to judges' chambers
A lawyer's act of taking a gun into the Champaign County Courthouse on Tuesday prompted Presiding Judge Tom Difanis to issue an order he hopes will help keep judges and their staffs safe.
On Wednesday, he and Sheriff Dan Walsh declared attorneys may not use courtroom doors to go to judges' chambers unless they are in the immediate presence of a judge who specifically invites them.
