Parking deck bids come in above estimates
CHAMPAIGN – Bids for the planned 600-space parking deck in downtown Champaign have come in $2 million above the construction cost estimate, raising concerns that the project might not be completed in time to coincide with the opening of the M2 on Neil project under way nearby.
The city council will be asked Tuesday night to reject the two bids received on the project and to authorize city staff to attempt to negotiate a lower price.
