Savoy grows by 2 as properties annexed
SAVOY – With an abstention as the necessary final "yes" vote, the Savoy village board approved annexing two properties, even though the village's staff wanted adjoining properties to be made part of the process to keep costs down.
The board voted 3-2, with Bill Smith abstaining, for the annexation agreements. Smith's vote counted as a "yes," according to village attorney Paul Hendren, giving the agreements the majority they needed to pass.
