A gunman who opened fire in a crowded lecture hall on the Northern Illinois University campus Thursday afternoon, killing five others and then himself, was a University of Illinois graduate student who bought at least two of the guns he used in Champaign.
Stephen Phillip Kazmierczak, 27, who lived in the Country Fair Apartments at 2108 W. White St., C, came to the UI last spring. He was a student of social work and was an academic hourly worker in the School of Social Work.
