Price tag for courthouse work lowered
URBANA – New estimates shave more than $1 million off the cost of Champaign County Courthouse tower and masonry repairs, with the possibility of further cuts.
The Champaign County Board's facilities committee voted 6-3 Tuesday to approve the estimates of Roessler Construction of Rantoul to use cast stone and other cost-saving measures to bring the cost of the courthouse remodeling down from a first estimate of about $7 million to about $5.8 million.
