Panel rejects request to raze old structure
URBANA – Urbana developer Howard Wakeland met a stone wall Wednesday night when he sought the approval of the city's historic preservation commission to demolish a century-old house at 809 W. Main St.
The commission voted 6-0 to reject Wakeland's request for a certificate of appropriateness to demolish the two-story house, which Wakeland said is a run-down rooming house.
