Mayor candidate rips tax district proposal

RANTOUL – Rantoul could have one of the shortest-lived tax increment financing districts in Illinois history if Gary Evans gets elected as the village's next mayor.

Evans, a former public works employee and announced candidate for mayor, blasted a proposal to create a second tax district that would include downtown and proposed subdivisions on the southwest side.
