Animal ID program concerns voiced
Young people showing their livestock at area county fairs and 4-H shows might not have to register their animals with the state this summer after all.
State Sen. Dale Righter, R-Mattoon, said he has heard concerns from the parents of hundreds of 4-H club members over a decision by the Illinois Department of Agriculture requiring youths planning on showing their livestock to register the animals under the National Animal Identification System.
