Council supports canine member in Paxton police department
PAXTON – The Paxton City Council voiced unanimous support Monday for a strengthened drug-enforcement program that would make a dog the newest member of the Paxton Police Department.
The council's police committee, with two members present, made a recommendation to the full council to approve bringing a drug-sniffing dog to work with Officer Chad Johnson for an expected seven years, which is the average time a German shepherd works out of a squad car before retiring.
