Apartment inspections may expand in Champaign
CHAMPAIGN – The future of the city of Champaign's two-year-old apartment common-area inspection program could be decided by the city council Tuesday night.
City staff members are recommending adding a second full-time inspector to allow apartment common areas to be inspected once every three years. The staff is also recommending that the program be funded through a new $12 per unit fee assessed against landlords.
