Activist acquitted in his third trial
URBANA – Patrick Thompson lowered his head and wept audibly as a Champaign County judge read the jury's verdict of acquittal for criminal sexual abuse.
Delivered about 4 p.m. Friday at the end of a weeklong trial, the verdict brought to a close a case opened almost four years ago against the community activist, when his neighbor alleged he entered her apartment uninvited and fondled her.
