Fire service institute gets federal grant
An almost $1 million grant to the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute will support research that could eventually help to reduce heart attacks among firefighters.
The $985,661 grant is from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, U.S. Rep. Timothy Johnson, R-Urbana, announced this week.
