Grant-funded program helping to reduce speeding
CHAMPAIGN – Police ticketed 155 drivers in June for speeding in Champaign, thanks to a special grant-funded program.
Sgt. Dave Griffet, said the Illinois Department of Transportation gave the city a grant in September 2007 that allows the police department to hire back additional hours beyond those normally available for traffic enforcement.
