Failure to yield plea in pedestrian death draws $1,000 fine
URBANA – A Champaign man who struck and killed a pedestrian on a busy Champaign street last fall was sentenced Thursday to the maximum fine of $1,000.
Melvin M. Monroe, 43, whose last known address was in the 600 block of West Springfield Avenue, pleaded guilty to failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk before Champaign County Judge Chase Leonhard.
