Bomber pilot recalls war days
BEMENT – Wayne Redman was so close to soaring.
His friend Larry Bertram told him about the B-17 warplane coming to Willard Airport in Savoy. Redman knew all about B-17s. During World War II, he'd flown 50 missions in them, piloting the shiny silver plane over parts of the United States and Europe.
