Garden Hills has been foundation for generations of families
CHAMPAIGN – Don and Betty Restad moved into a three-bedroom house in the newly emerging Garden Hills subdivision in 1956. Their monthly payments – including mortgage, insurance and taxes – were $66 a month.
Like a lot of young couples at the time, it was a "starter home" – something they could afford as they started a family.
