Planning director says trip should be useful immediately
A field trip Thursday to see how Rock Island and Moline have dealt with downtown housing issues should prove immediately useful to the four city council members making the trip, according to a Champaign official.
City Planning Director Bruce Knight said a city consultant, Business Districts Inc., of Evanston, has prepared a draft downtown housing strategic plan that the city council will consider in study session Tuesday night. The council approved spending up to $20,000 on the plan last September.
