Emerald ash borer making its way south
BLOOMINGTON – The emerald ash borer, a beetle responsible for killing millions of ash trees in North America, has been discovered in McLean County, the Illinois Department of Agriculture reported Friday.
It's the southernmost detection of the pest in Illinois, and that bothers Champaign city arborist Bill Vander Weit.
