Champaign district, teachers both ask for federal mediator
CHAMPAIGN – The Champaign school district and the teachers' union made a joint request Wednesday for a federal mediator.
The request was made because of the "slowing pace of negotiations," and because classes have started and the teachers' contract expired June 30, said Jon Nadler, a representative for the Illinois Federation of Teachers.
