Man dies after being hit by train near downtown Champaign
An unidentified man said to be in his 50s was killed by a train Saturday evening.
The man was hit about 8:25 p.m. Saturday on the tracks near the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Locust Street, police said. Trains were stopped while police investigated the area of the accident, about 100 yards north of the Springfield Avenue viaduct.
