Owner, preservationist at odds over Urbana site
URBANA – Julian Gorski of Normal is like a lot of small-time landlords.
He bought the old two-and-one-half story house at 508 W. Elm St. in the mid-1970s with a partner. He sold the house to the partner, then later bought it back. He lived in it for several years, until about 2004.
Now a resident of Normal and recently retired, Gorski wants to sell the house, his only income property, to JSM Development of Champaign. JSM has applied to the city to demolish the house and wants to construct an apartment building there.
