Franklin educator a finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year
CHAMPAIGN – Tracey Jones doesn't make a big deal about the work she does in her sixth-grade math classroom at Franklin Middle School.
She just goes about her teaching in a quiet, caring way that touches children, said Franklin Principal Angela Smith and Jones' colleagues at the school.
Her skills have made her one of nine finalists in the state for Illinois Teacher of the Year, a recognition given each year by the Illinois State Board of Education. The winner will be announced at a banquet on Oct. 18.
