Carle Park neighbors speak out on updates
URBANA – Plans are under way to update the nearly century-old Carle Park, but several residents who live near the park say they don't think the Urbana Park District has done a thorough enough job in soliciting neighborhood input.
Howard Berenbaum, 509 W. Iowa St., presented the park board Tuesday night with petitions signed by more than 150 residents. The petitions say that the park board should not install new playground equipment in the park until a plan agreeable "to the majority of the families living in the Carle Park neighborhood" can be reached. The petitions also oppose the construction of paved paths in the park and urge the use of more ecologically friendly materials for paths.
