Congressman: Federal law may prevent two park closings
CLINTON – An area congressman says federal law may prevent the state from closing two central Illinois state parks.
U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Urbana, contacted the U.S. Park Service on Friday because two of the parks that Gov. Rod Blagojevich has slated for closure on Nov. 1 – Moraine View near LeRoy and Weldon Springs near Clinton – are the recipients of federal and water conservation grants totaling more than $550,000.
