Champaign County's Head Start Program seeking more applicants
The school year is well under way, but applications are still being taken for Champaign County's Head Start Program.
The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission, which oversees the program, conducted a major recruitment drive over the summer, visiting about 815 homes and distributing more than 2,500 postcards and fliers. Those efforts paid off, according to Kari May, Head Start's child and family services manager. All but a few of the 528 spots are filled in the program, which helps prepare preschoolers for kindergarten.
