Appellate court sides with Champaign Township voters
CHAMPAIGN – More than 700 properties in southwest Champaign should stay in Champaign Township, the 4th District Appellate Court ruled.
In a decision filed Wednesday, a three-judge panel ruled that the Champaign County Board had no legal authority to redraw township boundaries and switch 712 properties from Champaign Township to City of Champaign Township. Most are in the Cherry Hills, Ironwood, Copper Ridge and Trails at Brittany subdivisions.
