Engineer: Metropolitan neighbor's wall needs major work
CHAMPAIGN – A three-story law-office building at 215 N. Neil St. damaged in last Friday's fire at the Metropolitan Building "is not safe" and will require major repairs before it can be used again as a place of business.
That's among the findings made by structural engineer John Frauenhoffer, who inspected the building for the city and delivered a report to the city's fire department Wednesday.
