Jury: Squad-car death an accident, motorcyclists' a homicide
URBANA – A Champaign County coroner's jury ruled Monday that the death of a Rantoul man who died in police custody was an accident.
Deputy Coroner Bill Fabian said Darren Wilson, 40, of 1125 Bel Air Drive, died of cocaine intoxication. He was pronounced dead at 9:11 p.m. July 18 at Carle Foundation Hospital, less than two hours after Rantoul police were sent to a fight at his home.
